This page offers general information about the nature of my psychotherapy services. Before starting psychotherapy or clinical supervision, formal informed consent will be reviewed individually.
Psychotherapy services are a clinical service provided within the scope of my professional licensure, adhering to ethical standards and state laws, including informed consent. These services may encompass: assessment and treatment of mental health concerns, attention to emotional, relational, and psychological well-being, and the integration of spirituality only when requested and clinically appropriate. Additionally, I offer clinical supervision in jurisdictions where I am legally licensed to practice.
Clinical supervision is provided to therapists and trainees seeking support with clinical skill development, ethical decision-making, professional identity, and sustainability of practice. This process includes obtaining informed consent and is governed by professional ethical codes, applicable state regulations, and clear agreements regarding roles, responsibilities, and limits. Formal supervision agreements are reviewed prior to beginning supervision to ensure that all parties are aligned on expectations, especially in the context of delivering psychotherapy services.
Spiritual direction is a non-clinical, reflective practice that is distinct from psychotherapy services. It does not involve diagnosis, treatment planning, or mental health intervention and is not a substitute for psychotherapy or psychiatric care. Instead, spiritual direction focuses on meaning, spiritual experience, values, discernment, and the inner life. This practice is offered on a self-pay basis and may be provided worldwide. If psychological or psychiatric care is needed, this will be clearly stated, and appropriate referrals will be encouraged, ensuring informed consent about the need for clinical supervision if required.
As I provide psychotherapy services, clinical supervision, and spiritual direction, I take care to maintain clear boundaries between these roles. In some cases, this may involve: declining or ending one service to avoid overlapping roles, or referring you to another provider when dual roles would not be appropriate. My intention is always to act in your best interest with clarity and care, ensuring informed consent throughout the process.
Informed consent is an ongoing process in the context of clinical supervision. You are encouraged to ask questions at any time about the nature of your psychotherapy services with me, including boundaries and ethical concerns. Clarity supports trust, and trust supports meaningful work.
