Spiritual Direction - In Formation

I am currently in formal formation for spiritual direction, where I will learn the art of meaningful listening and develop skills for spiritual companionship. I anticipate beginning this work upon completion of my training in Fall 2026, but at this time, I am not accepting spiritual direction clients.

About Spiritual Direction

An attentive companion for meaning, and inner life.

Cozy living room with two armchairs and a wooden coffee table.

Spiritual direction is a practice of meaningful listening—listening to your life, your questions, and the subtle movements of meaning within you. In our spiritual companionship, we create a steady, compassionate space to notice what is unfolding and to discern what may be asking for your attention, trust, or response.

What is Spiritual Direction?

Sunlight filters through tall trees onto a forest path.

Spiritual direction is a reflective, relational practice that emphasizes meaningful listening and focuses on your lived experience rather than mere instruction or advice.

It provides a space to notice how meaning, values, questions, and inner movements are showing up in your life—and to explore them with curiosity and care, fostering a sense of spiritual companionship.

This work is not about fixing, teaching, or directing; rather, it involves listening together for what feels alive, difficult, or quietly asking for attention.

Whether you name the sacred as God, Spirit, nature, mystery, or simply the unfolding of your life, this is a place where your experience is held with reverence and trust.

Who is Spiritual Direction For?

Spiritual direction may be a good fit for people who:

• Are seeking a deeper, more attentive relationship with their inner or spiritual life through meaningful listening.

• Are questioning, reshaping, or discerning their beliefs or values while exploring spiritual companionship.

• Want space to reflect on prayer, meditation, contemplation, or spiritual practice.

• Are navigating transitions, loss, or questions of meaning.

• Desire a grounded, non-judgmental companion rather than advice or solutions in their journey of spiritual direction.

How Spiritual Direction Differs from Therapy

How Spiritual Direction Differs from Therapy

Spiritual direction and psychotherapy serve different purposes, though they may feel complementary for some people. Spiritual direction emphasizes meaningful listening and spiritual companionship, focusing not on diagnosis or symptom relief but on exploring questions of meaning, values, inner movements, and spiritual experiences in daily life. In contrast, therapy addresses psychological distress, emotional patterns, and relational or behavioral concerns. While spiritual direction prioritizes discernment and awareness of your inner and spiritual life, when therapy is needed, I will clearly identify that and assist you in seeking appropriate support.
